The Portuguese Chapter of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) received the 2024 IEEE Region 8 Chapter of the Year (Medium) Award for delivering excellent services to members. The award was awarded to INESC Coimbra Researcher Paulo Pereirinha, as chair of IEEE VTS Portugal Chapter, at the IEEE Portugal Engineering Day, which took place in Covilhã, on November 15, 2024.
The executive committee of the VTS Portugal Chapter is constituted by Paulo Pereirinha (IPC-ISEC, INESC Coimbra) as Chair, Rui Esteves Araújo (FEUP, INESC TEC) Vice-Chair, Marco Gomes (FCTUC, IT) Secretary and João Guerreiro (FCT-UNL, IT) as Treasurer.
The Award is intended to recognize the outstanding performance of Region 8 Technical Chapters (in the categories: Small, Medium and Large size chapters) in serving their members and the technical community and establishing goodwill within and between the Region 8 Sections.
Region 8 of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) consists of the sections/countries of Europe, Middle East and Africa. The selection is based on the outstanding performance of the nominated chapter.
The IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional society, and comprises more than 360,000 members who conduct and participate in its activities in 150 countries.
